Dear patients, friends, and supporters of Steiner Medical and Therapeutic Center,

What a time!  Though these have indeed been tumultuous and difficult times on so many levels, we have been impressed by the morale, safe, careful and intelligent actions most of you have been taking.  Along with any crises, there is also the possibility of working through the difficulties, and coming through on the other side in a better place.  We are here to help you to persist and battle through the many challenges still in front of us.  We are looking forward to seeing and interacting with you in person!  However, we will still be doing telephonic consultations when appropriate, or preferred.  We will get this to work!

WE ARE BEGINNING THE CAREFUL PROCESS OF OPENING UP THE PRACTICE!

We are doing this carefully, balancing the need for safety, with the need to help you with face to face meetings in the office.  We will still be doing telephonic medical meetings when they appropriately and adequately serve the need, and certainly for any of you who are still worried, or prefer that method at the present time.  There will be situations where we will have a preliminary telephone  meeting to decide if we should see you in the office.  The best venue in each individual situation will be worked out between you and your provider.  We have spent considerable time to figure this out.  The procedures which we, along with other medical providers, have devised, are extremely safe.  We believe this very strongly, and would not be opening if we had any concerns regarding safety.

Contact with the providers
As a transition, we will not be using the waiting room, but will have all patients enter through the rear door, and brought to one of the examining rooms, insuring minimal contact with other patients.
Before entering, all patients will be masked and gloved.  We ask you to bring your own mask and gloves if possible.  If you forget, we can supply them, though our supply is limited.
The medical assistants and all providers will also be masked and gloved.  They will also be gowned if appropriate.
Physical exams will be done when appropriate, but unnecessary contact will be limited.  Of course, when we need to examine you, all protective precautions will be taken.
We will have a separate room for patients with any types of infections.  If you do not have an infection, rest assured that the room you will be in carries minimal risk for contagion.
We will have separate times when we see “well patients”, and those with potential infections.  We ask you to cooperate with us for this scheduling segregation.
After taking care of scheduling and financial issues, you will exit through the rear door.
All of the above insures your safety to an extraordinarily high degree.  You can trust in this.

Financial and scheduling procedures
There will not be a waiting line when you are interacting with Janet, our wonderful check out lady.  Patients will remain in their rooms until it’s their turn.
We will be taking payment ONLY through credit cards and personal checks.  In order to minimize contact with credit card transactions, prior to your entering the building, we will be getting your credit card information.  If you pay by personal check, we will have an envelope to place your check in.
Scheduling will be done as usual at the end of the visit, or by phone.
These are our first steps, and they will evolve as we gather experience together.
